Exploring spiritual accompaniment: an explanation of the first steps |
Thank you for your interest in contacting me to ask about exploring working together in spiritual accompaniment.
Since Covid, I've mostly offered accompaniment sessions on zoom but anyone willing to travel to a few miles west of Berwick-on-Tweed is welcome to come for in person sessions, depending on any Covid restrictions in place at the time.

Once I've received your enquiry form I'll email to find a convenient time to speak a little on the phone. Following this conversation, if you'd like to pursue working together further, we can arrange a date to meet for an initial, exploratory session. These usually last around an hour.

An initial meeting is a time when:
- you can tell me a little about yourself and something of your spirituality or faith journey to this point
- you can talk about what you want from spiritual accompaniment
- you can think about how often you'd like to see a spiritual accompanist
- I can explain what I am able to offer in spiritual accompaniment and tell you a little about myself and my own spirituality
- you can then reflect and pray about whether what you are looking for and what I can offer seem to be a good match
If you decide that you'd like to meet regularly, we'll arrange a first session and agree to review how spiritual accompaniment is going after two or three more meetings.
Of course, after an initial meeting, sometimes people feel that I'm not going to be the right person for them to work with. If this is the case, then I am very happy to assist you in finding someone else via the network of spiritual directors to which I belong.
