This quote is from Brian Taylor's chapter, 'Changing Your Mind: Contemplative Prayer and Personal Transformation' in Thomas Keating, et al, Spirituality, Contemplation & Transformation: Writings on Centering Prayer (Lantern Books, 2008), 294-5. Brian Taylor was formerly the Rector of St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, just 15 minutes in a car from perhaps the well-known Centre for Action and Contemplation - see here - established by Fr Richard Rohr. Brian Taylor's book, Becoming Human: Core Teachings of Jesus (Cowley Publications, 2005) - see here - focuses on the fresh, immediate, liberating quality of what Jesus had to say about life. Taylor's succinct summations of what Jesus taught - don't worry; love everybody; help the poor; become simple; face into conflict; change the world; forgive yourself for being human, and so on - provide the basis for a series of reflections on the transformative wisdom that inspired those who had ears to hear Jesus, drop everything and follow him. Other books by this respected author include Becoming Christ: Transformation Through Contemplation (Cowley Publications, 2002), here, and Spirituality for Everyday Living: An Adaption of the Rule of St Benedict (Liturgical Press, 1989), here.
