Sustaining a discipline of silence based prayer is not always easy.
The reading group offers several ways to support you in this:
- Meet regularly with others who are also exploring a discipline of silence based prayer to share experiences of what it's like: the struggles and the joys, your questions and discoveries!
- Read slowly through two books about silence, a chapter at a time between meetings, and then gather to discuss what we've found helpful, challenging and encouraging .
In January 2020, we'll be starting to read two new books:
- Sharing in periods of silence with others is a supportive and helpful thing to do. So after a time of discussing the latest chapters, there will be 20 minutes of silent prayer together.
- Our shared silence will be followed by time to reflect and chat about how our reading and discussion have impacted on this practice: what was useful, what we noticed, what got in the way or was hard.
We meet every 6 to 8 weeks at 7.30pm in a home in the BD2 area of Bradford. We will finish by 9.30pm.
